Sam has been showing some interest in the potty and so I decided last week to make a special trip to the store in order to purchase Sam his very own potty. I got it home and let him take it apart, play with it (don't worry, it's clean) and generally get used to the idea of having it around. It even came with a set of stickers so we were able to personalize his special potty.
Last night, after his bath, Kerry and I decided to give it a shot, and try to coerce Sam into sitting on the potty. We both sang and danced around, trying to get Sam excited about the prospect of no more diapers. He wasn't quite understanding the concept, so of course we had to act out sitting on the potty, smiling and singing the whole time. After a while, he started to understand - the potty meant mom and dad cheering loudly. He'd go over to the potty, sit for 1.5 seconds, then get up and clap and scream in delight (with Mom and Dad doing the same). And this is how the game went, he'd sit for a nano second, get up, and then we would all cheer loudly for him. No pee-pee actually went into the potty but we all sure had a good time.
