Sam had one, pretty simple, request this year from Santa. He wants a hammer and a screwdriver. And Ella, well she didn't have much choice in the matter because she got her two front teeth. Not quite the Barbie Dream House she'll probably request in the future, but I am pretty sure those two teeth will come in handy.
This year we made the pilgrimage to Santa's home at the mall, where we patiently waited in line for our turn to speak with the big guy. Sam had gotten a glimpse of Santa a few weeks before and clung to my leg, too terrified to even offer a high-five, so I was sure this trip was going to be a mix of terror and tears. Much to my surprise, when it was our turn the elves guided Sam right up to Santa and he, very bravely, climbed into his lap and very clearly requested that Santa please bring him a hammer and a screwdriver. It was amazing. No tears, no sobbing, just Sam being the very brave boy that he is. When it was time to move on, he jumped off Santa's lap, then turned around and yelled, "Merry Christmas Santa!" and happily walked away with his candy cane. I am going to call this a Christmas Miracle.
