Strawberry Fields Forever

With the end of school last week, I suddenly realized that I no longer have a teacher and classmates to entertain Sam three days a week. I am back to being a full-time parent- YIKES! Once the fear and terror subsided, I realized that I am actually looking forward to spending some quality time with the kids, enjoying the best things summer has to offer. Today (our first official day of summer) I decided to pack up the car and head to Sauvie Island to do some berry picking.

The sun was shining, wagons ready and little, red strawberries were everywhere, just ripe for the picking. It was one of those days where everything seems so simple and yet, so perfect. The two kids happily riding in the wagon as we discuss the different crops all around us. Sam, carefully digging through each row of plants, happily exclaiming every 5 seconds, "Mama, I found another red, ripe strawberry!" Ella, sitting contently in the field, eating her way through the strawberries Sam managed to wrangle from the vines, faces completely covered in red juice, feet covered in mud and me, blissfully happy to be spending a Monday morning with the two best people in the world.

Nice clean faces to begin with Inspecting the Crops That's 10 Pounds of Strawberries! I think she ate about 3 pounds before we left.
